Regional Center for Neonatal Screening
The Regional Neonatal Screening Center began operating in October 2022 on the basis of the Lviv Regional Clinical Perinatal Center at 9 Taras Bobanych "Hammera" St., Lviv.
The activity of the center is regulated by the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 2142 of 01.10.2021 "On provision of extended neonatal screening in Ukraine".
This landmark event for neonatal medicine was preceded by a victory in the 2021 competition.
The bar of selection criteria was high:
Relevant competencies, experience in high-tech research
Sufficient human, structural, technical and organizational resources
Continuity of provision of laboratory and diagnostic services
Use of best quality and biosecurity practices
Research and educational opportunities
Therefore, the capacities of the Lviv Perinatal Center and the personnel potential of the Institute of Hereditary Pathology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which had been conducting genetic research since 1987, were combined.
